FOUR EASY STEPS is all it takes. . .
printer friendly
- SELECT
Gather your photos together - sort them in the "Yes" pile and the "No" pile. We recommend about 200 photos which creates a 20-minute video. (For funeral services, 10 minutes or 100 photos may be better.) When desiding which photos to include, ask yourself, "does it help tell the story." Our digital process helps bring back faded colors - your pictures will look better on the video than they did when you brought them to us. We also frame the important parts of your photos for your TV screen, so don't worry about pictures that aren't cropped properly - we'll get it right.
Don't feel limited by photos. We can use slides and video clips, too.
- SORT
For a biographical video, we recommend using a simple chronological order. This gives your video context and makes a powerful impact. Try to show all aspects of the person's life - early years, marriage, family, career, job or business photos, special interest/hobbies, house photos, special locations, vacations, grand-kids, etc.
- NUMBER
Number your photos on the back with either a pencil or post-it notes. DO NOT USE a pen as the ink may rub off onto the other photos. Alternately, you can group them into plastic baggies and number the baggies. One photo will usually stand out as THE photo that you best remember that person by. We like to use this photo for opening/closing scenes and DVD case and label artwork.
You may also want to consider if you want a quote at the end - shorter is better. It helps make a nice ending to your video.
- MUSIC
You will be the best judge about what the right music will be based on your family's experiences and preferences. If you want some ideas, we can provide some samples to help you develop some choices. We prefer to have your music on CD, but ask us if you don't have the musical selection that you would like. We can take care of that for you.
WE DO THE REST!

What kind of discs do you use?
We use 50-year rated, archive quality DVD-R discs. We use DVD-R because they are compatible with the greatest number of DVD players. DVD players over 8 to 9 years old may have a hard time playing a DVD-R. Hollywood-style DVD formats are availalbe, but require a replication process and a minimum order of 1,000 copies.
Will my DVD play on my computer?
There is a difference between a formatted DVD and a CD with a video file on it. Your video will be provided to you on a formated DVD.
Your computer must be equiped with DVD player software. Older players may have trouble playing the DVD-R format. Newer computers usually come with the player installed and are compatible with the DVD-R format.
I want scene selections at specific points in the video. Can you do that?
Yes. A special-handling fee applies.
